| Ron Tate, Salt Lake City, Utah, completed his BA in Fine Arts at Brigham Young University in 1967. He was nominated as Artist the Year at Dixie State College in 1963. He has been trained as a Spencerian Penman from Mike Sull at the Spencerian Saga by Mike Sull in 1990. He teaches art at a Salt Lake Community College while working as a full-time calligrapher . He has served as the calligrapher for the State of Utah under the direction of the Governor with his appointed offices providing beautiful resolutions and completing thousands of projects. He continues to design wedding invitations and perform calligraphic services for clients throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa and numerous other countries. He is an experienced engraver for numerous stores and individuals desiring unique items engraved in glass or metal. In addition, Ron, member of the International Association of master Penmen, Engrossrs, and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH) , he is the sole calligrapher for noted leaders in business, government as well as religious affiliations on a nationwide basis. He is the author of Learning Calligraphy (1994) published by Zim's, Inc. His watercolor calligraphy pieces have sold throughout the western United States and he has been the featured artist in Watercolor (American Artist Magazine). | Don Tate, formerly from Dallas, Texas, and currently in Salt Lake City area (Draper, UT) has studied and taught calligraphy courses for more than two decades. His academic studies include a BA from Brigham Young University (1967) in advertising with a minor in art and graduate course work in art while living in California during the 1960's and 1970's. He also teaches calligraphy at a Salt Lake Community College.He has studied under internationally recognized artists, calligraphers and Master Penmen. He taught calligraphy and provided personal instruction to beginning, intermediate and advanced calligraphers. He was responsible for writing and publication of the Spencerian Newsletter sold in the United States and Canada in the 1990's. He regularly keeps in touch with calligraphers world wide helping them to learn more about Spencerian writing. He is an experienced engraver for nationally known stores and for many individuals throughout the U.S. Don currently possesses one of the world's largest collections of the works of the Master Penmen from 1860 to 1992. He is a member of the International Association of Master Penmen Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH), the Firearm Engravers Guild of America (FEGA) and The Guild of Glass Engravers (London).
